Gian Luigi Ongaro

Gian Luigi Ongaro Biography

Gian Luigi Ongaro Managing Director

Not many can say they were literally born into the custom kitchen cabinetry business. When one of your first memories is helping your father separate kitchen cabinet screws, you get to know a business from the ground up.

Living and working in an environment of custom craftsmanship, Gian Luigi’s love and passion for Italian design came naturally.

As Gian Luigi grew, so too did the company. The family workshop is now a 20,000 sq.ft. automated design and fabrication centre. And Gian Luigi isn’t separating screws. With a vision of expanding the family’s brand internationally, he began with a good education.

  • Undergraduate Degree in International Trade – University of Venice
  • Masters Degree in International Economy – University of Venice
  • Master of Business Administration – Schulich School of Business, York University

His work in the family business in Italy gave Gian Luigi a practical grounding in sales development, marketing strategy, project management and business leadership.

With the combination of education and real-world experience, Gian Luigi followed his vision and made the move to Canada. After working with the Italian Chamber of Commerce of Ontario in project coordination and market research, Gian Luigi co-founded Trevisana with Domenico Siniscalco.

The partnership quickly found success and Trevisana was soon the ‘go to’ partner for many of the leading architects, interior designers and project developers in the business. After just three years, the company earned the Business Excellence Award for the Italian Chamber of Commerce of Ontario.

When he’s away from the world of custom kitchens, Gian Luigi is an avid cyclist, he’ll play or watch a soccer match at every opportunity, and when the soccer fields are buried in snow, he heads for the slopes.
